It had been approximately 2 years since the dreadful pandemic continuously spreading all over the globe without looking over the sex, religion, caste, socio-economic status and part of the globe to which the persons are belongs. Scientists monitor all variants but may classify certain ones as Variants Being Monitored, Variants of Concern, Variants of Interest or Variants of High Consequence. Some variants seem to spread more easily and quickly than other variants, which may lead to more cases of COVID-19. An increase in the number of cases will put more strain on healthcare resources, lead to more hospitalizations, and potentially more deaths.
These classifications are based on how easily the variant spreads, how severe the symptoms are, how the variant responds to treatments, or how well vaccines protect against the variant.
An independent group of expert Technical Advisory Group on SARS-CoV-2 Virus Evolution (TAG-VE) that periodically monitors and evaluates the evolution of SARS-CoV-2 and assesses if specific mutations and combinations of mutations alter the behavior of the virus. The TAG-VE was convened on 26 November 2021 to assess the SARS-CoV-2 variant: B.1.1.529. Based on the evidence presented indicative of a detrimental change in COVID-19 epidemiology, the TAG-VE has advised WHO that this variant should be designated as a VOC, and the WHO has designated B.1.1.529 as a VOC, named Omicron.
For earliest identification of genetic modifications following recommendation is given to countries by WHO:
- Enhance surveillance and sequencing efforts to better understand circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants.
- Submit complete genome sequences and associated metadata to a publicly available database, such as GISAID.
- Report initial cases/clusters associated with VOC infection to WHO through the IHR mechanism.
- Where capacity exists and in coordination with the international community, performs field investigations and laboratory assessments to improve understanding of the potential impacts of the VOC on COVID-19 epidemiology, severity, effectiveness of public health and social measures, diagnostic methods, immune responses, antibody neutralization, or other relevant characteristics.
With the new mutation of COVID 19 gradually talk about the booster doses after 2 doses of vaccination came into the limelight, because there is high possibility that efficacy of vaccination will reduce after this new adaptation of the virus for survival. Definitely vaccination having an effect on the severity of symptoms of COVID 19 affection but with this new variant further flair up of COVID 19 cases is suspected. As per new statement of WHO there is very high chance that a new wave will be seen not only because of mutation or adaptation but along with inappropriate compliance with COVID 19 appropriate behavior by general public.
No cases of this VOC have been identified in INDIA till now. We are grateful to the South African government and its scientist who have openly communicated with the global scientific community and continue to share information about this variant. With the emergent of this VOC now we can easily understand that COVID 19 virus itself trying to adapt to survive in this universe by making some structural adaptation and genetic modification through the process of epigenetic. Ministry of AYUSH already recommended general measure to enhance the immunity for battling against this dreadful virus who constantly changing its faces to survive in this universe along with human being as well as guidelines for management through integral system of India i.e AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy).
Depending on the predisposing factor with patients and severity of COVID 19 affection different medicine of Homoeopathy can successfully use to combat with genetically and structurally drifted monstrous COVID 19 virus.
