राज्यपाल शिव प्रताप शुक्ल ने आज शिमला के ऐतिहासिक रिज मैदान पर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुक्केबाजी चैम्पियनशिप का शुभारंभ किया। नशा छोड़ो-खेल खेलो थीम पर आधारित इस चैम्पियनशिप का आयोजन हिमाचल प्रदेश प्रोफेशनल बॉक्सिंग एसोसिएशन द्वारा किया जा रहा है।
आयोजकों को शुभकामनाएं देते हुए राज्यपाल ने कहा कि हिमाचल प्रदेश के छह बार मुख्यमंत्री रहेे राजा वीरभद्र सिंह की याद में इस चैम्पियनशिप का आयोजना करवाना उनके प्रति लोगों की सच्ची श्रद्धांजलि है। दूरदर्शिता और समर्पण भाव से परिपूर्ण उनका जीवन, प्रदेश के लोगों को पीढ़ी दर पीढ़ी प्रेरित करता रहेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि वह हिमाचल के दूरदर्शी नेता होने के साथ-साथ राजनीति के दिग्गज थे जिन्होंने हिमाचल प्रदेश के समग्र विकास में अमूल्य योगदान दिया।
राज्यपाल ने कहा कि चैम्पियनशिप में भारत और विदेश से एथलीटों की भागीदारी यह संदेश देती है कि खेल जीवन का अभिन्न अंग है और यह वैश्विक सौहार्द और संवाद की भावना को बढ़ाते हैं।उन्होंने आह्वान किया कि युवाओं को खेल गतिविधियों को जीवन का अभिन्न अंग बनाना चाहिए क्योंकि इससे शारीरिक मजबूती के साथ-साथ मानसिक शक्ति को भी हासिल किया जा सकता है। एक स्वस्थ युवा एक मजबूत राष्ट्र की नींव है। उन्होंने इस बात पर बल दिया कि खेलों में भाग लेने से युवा नशे जैसी बुराईयों से दूर रहते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि खेलों के माध्यम से युवा सकारात्मक ऊर्जा का उपयोग कर सही दिशा में आगे बढ़ते हैं और उद्देश्यपूर्ण जीवन व्यतीत करते हैं। अनुशासित दिनचर्या से शारीरिक और मानसिक बल को हासिल किया जा सकता है।
राज्य में नशे के मामलों पर चिंता व्यक्त करते हुए राज्यपाल ने कहा कि हिमाचल के लोगों को आत्मचिंतन करने की आवश्यकता है कि देवभूमि हिमाचल को नशे की भूमि बनने से रोका जाए। हिमाचल कोे नशे की बुराई से बचाने के लिए प्रदेश के सभी लोगों को सहभागिता से कार्य करने की आवश्यकता है। उन्होंने नशीले मादक द्रव्यों के सेवन के खिलाफ जागरूकता बढ़ाने वाली ऐसी पहल का समर्थन करने के लिए लोक निर्माण मंत्री विक्रमादित्य सिंह के प्रयासों की सराहना की।इससे पहले, राज्यपाल ने भारतीय और रूसी मुक्केबाजों के बीच एक रोमांचक मुकाबला देखा।हिमाचल प्रदेश प्रोफेशनल बॉक्सिंग एसोसिएशन के अध्यक्ष मोहिंद्र स्टेन ने राज्यपाल का स्वागत किया और उनके सहयोग के लिए आभार व्यक्त किया।
इस समारोह में झारखंड उच्च न्यायालय के नवनियुक्त मुख्य न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति तरलोक चौहान, हिमाचल प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय के न्यायमूर्ति अजय मोहन गोयल, लोक निर्माण मंत्री विक्रमादित्य सिंह, विधायक नंद लाल और हरीश जनारथा, शिमला नगर निगम के महापौर सुरेन्द्र चौहान, मुख्य सचिव प्रबोध सक्सेना, राज्यपाल के सचिव चन्द्र प्रकाश वर्मा और मुक्केबाजी संघ के महासचिव यदुपति ठाकुर सहित अनेक गणमान्य उपस्थित थे।
